The Dead Sea is also called Salt Sea due to its extremely high contents of salt and minerals; it is one of the most saline lakes and the lowest body of water in the world 410 meters (about 1300 feet) below sea level.
It is fed mainly by River Jordan in the north and by perennial springs and streams from the east and west.
Having no outlet, the Dead Sea is a "terminal lake" which loses huge amounts of water by evaporation into the hot dry air.

This results in high concentration of salts and minerals in a unique composition that is particularly rich in chloride salts of magnesium, potassium, sodium, calcium, bromine and various.
Others.Recent studies indicate that the salt and mineral concentration in the Dead Sea is about 33% in comparison to 3% in the oceans.
